Business Meeting at the CEOE on the 5 + 5 Economic Forum

The European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) and the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE) collaborate in the organization of debates and in the promotion of studies in order to make known the links, the cooperation and the tendencies. between Europe and the countries of the southern and eastern Mediterranean. The first result of this collaboration is the organization of an economic and business conference on the opportunities and challenges presented by the Western Mediterranean for the Spanish economy.

The event aims to explain the initiative of the 5 + 5 Western Mediterranean Economic Forum. The meeting explains the content of the first edition of this forum in Barcelona last October, as well as the potential for economic cooperation that it represents for the countries of the Maghreb and Western Europe.

This meeting is inaugurated on October 23 by the President of the Spanish Government, Mariano Rajoy, and is attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Secretaries of State of France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Malta. These ten countries have been part of the informal “5 + 5 Dialogue” work forum since 1990, which organizes sectoral meetings to address common problems, and which had the first major economic and business meeting in Barcelona.

As part of the meeting, the IEMed signs a cooperation agreement with the CEOE on the economy of the western Mediterranean.
