Complementary to the Aula Mediterrània 2017-2018 conference series, this fourth edition of the Aula Mediterrània Interdisciplinary Research Seminar brings together experts and the latest research on various topics related to the Mediterranean.

Understanding the Mediterranean context is a fascinating challenge which must take into account different perspectives and fields of study. This is why this seminar aims to promote an interdisciplinary approach to the region as a broad and necessary research method. Aula Mediterrània is designed as a platform allowing researchers to connect and as a space for debate at a time when speed and over-information may not be useful for understanding the main issues in depth.

On this occasion, the topics discussed do not only concern academics, but they are relevant for our societies as a whole. Consequently, exchanges between university researchers and other actors are essential to boost knowledge about our home and our natural space that is the Mediterranean.

This year, the seminar coincides with the 7th consecutive year of the Syrian war. While there may not be clear solutions, Aula Mediterrània intends to serve as a forum where contemporary issues are discussed and where critical thinking can translate into policy making.
