Macroeconomics and Monetary Policies in a Context of Uncertainty in the Mediterranean

The IEMed is organizing, in collaboration with the Bank of Spain at the Palau de Pedralbes, the international conference “Macroeconomic and Monetary Policies in the Mediterranean”, which aims to discuss and formulate ways in which economic institutions and policies can promote stability. macroeconomic and the development of welfare systems in the Mediterranean region.

It analyzes monetary policies, markets and financial institutions, and cases of banking union in both the European Union and the Maghreb, as well as the experience of central banks in periods of political and economic transition (Spain, Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia) and the need for robust fiscal policies to develop and consolidate the welfare state.The Conference gathers about twenty experts and representatives of banks and financial institutions as well as research centers and academia from eight countries in the region, as well as representatives of international organizations (European Union, Union for the Mediterranean, Union of Arab Maghreb …) and governors and / or representatives of the central banks of Spain, Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia, and private enterprise.
