Conference “Mar de Paraules” with Najat El Hachmi in Barcelona

The fight against gender violence is the object of this 9th edition of the literary contest “A sea of words”, organized by the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) and the Anna Lindh Foundation, following the proposal of the European Parliament for 2016.

The awards ceremony takes place in the city of Barcelona on November 7, 2016, starting at 7.30 pm in the Prat de la Riba room of the Institute of Catalan Studies.

Within the framework of the event, the Catalan writer Najat El Hachmi delivers the lecture “The voice that lasts”, a reflection on oral literature as a form of resistance by women.

During the event, the awards are given to the fifteen young people from eleven countries who have presented the best stories of the 2016 edition of the Euro-Mediterranean literary contest “A sea of words”, as well as the first three prizes.

In this 9th edition of the «A sea of words» contest we want to receive stories and stories, based on both reality and fiction, that speak of different experiences and visions about the numerous gender based violence and discrimination that exist in our plural societies, with the aim of questioning established patterns and promoting new approaches from equality.
