Co-Creating Cities: Participation, Inclusion, and the Future of Urban Planning
3 November 2026. From 18:00 To 19:30 | Conference | English | Palau Macaya, BarcelonaAdvancing inclusive and sustainable urbanisation is paramount in cities where planning processes have often overlooked the needs of underrepresented groups. In this session, Ikbel Dridi, Project Manager of Femmedina, will explore how participatory approaches can reshape urban governance and make cities more equitable and responsive.
Through the Femmedina project, Dridi works to integrate women more fully into public space design and urban decision-making, promoting safer, more accessible, and inclusive environments. By combining local governance expertise with community engagement tools, the initiative fosters dialogue between citizens, municipalities, and stakeholders, ensuring that urban planning reflects diverse lived experiences and needs.
With over a decade of experience in governance, decentralisation, and urban development, Dridi brings a strong operational perspective to participatory planning. Her work demonstrates how inclusive processes, supported by tools such as data systems and multi-level partnerships, can strengthen urban resilience and contribute to more balanced, sustainable development across Mediterranean cities.
