Cities in Motion: Designing Sustainable Mobility for All

Ensuring access to safe, affordable, and sustainable transport is a cornerstone of SDG 11 and a growing priority for Mediterranean cities facing congestion, pollution, and unequal access to mobility. In this session, Goran Lampelj, Project Coordinator at ODRAZ-Sustainable Community Development, will examine how integrated mobility planning can create more accessible and inclusive urban environments.
Drawing on ODRAZ’s work in EU-funded initiatives and its coordination of the CIVINET network, Lampelj will highlight practical approaches to advancing public transport systems, cycling infrastructure, and non-motorised mobility. These projects emphasise citizen participation, data-driven planning, and cross-city collaboration to ensure that mobility solutions respond to local needs while aligning with broader sustainability goals.
With a background in traffic engineering and sustainable urban planning, Lampelj brings hands-on experience in bridging policy and practice. His work demonstrates how rethinking mobility systems can not only reduce environmental impact, but also improve quality of life, accessibility, and social equity across Mediterranean cities.
