This is the second dialogue of the series “Other views. The Middle East in the photographic background of Fr. Ubach” which delves into the influence of the image and photography in the construction of the narratives and perceptions about social, cultural and political realities of the Middle East.

It is already commonplace to say that dialogue is a cornerstone not only of conflict resolution but of human coexistence. It is essential to understand that genuine dialogue consists of a complex and laborious process: it is, first and foremost, an end in itself. In a world that often favors quick solutions and oversimplifications, it is crucial to appreciate the wealth of details and nuances present in each situation.

This is what Father Ubach’s look achieves: to present a mosaic as it is. Each religious or cultural tradition is, in itself, an amalgam of diversities. This is perhaps one of the current contributions of Ubach’s work: recognizing the concrete reality in which traditions are embodied and transformed, especially relevant in a world that is, paradoxically, increasingly diverse and globalised.
