The Lebanese writer Joumana Haddad opens this session that is held within the framework of the Biennial of Thought ‘Open City’ in Barcelona, with which the IEMed participates by organizing different activities.

From narrative fiction to poetry, to later delve into the theatrical genre, journalistic reporting and essays, up to a documentary film script, such is the versatility of her artistic production. Feminist and fierce critic of sexism in Lebanese society, she founded ‘Jasad’ (Body), a magazine of culture, art, literature and «body science, in its erotic, social, aesthetic, unsightly, anthropological, linguistic dimension», of which she is editor-in-chief. In addition, she was responsible for the cultural pages of the Lebanese newspaper ‘An Nahar’. She is also the author of poetry and essay books (‘Yo maté a Sherezade’, Editorial Debate, 2011), and was part of Beirut39, a transnational project that brings together the best Arab writers under 39 years of age.
