Concert with Maktub Project

Maktub Project is a quartet that draws on the Middle East, flamenco and jazz to create a sound world where cultures linked to their Andalusian past and Judeo-Sephardic tradition resonate, feel and celebrate in harmony. It was born in Barcelona in 2018 on the initiative of Anna Casado, leader and vocalist of a group also made up of Sergio di Finizio (bass), Georgi Dimitrov (kanun, a stringed instrument native to Turkey) and Alex Guitart (percussion).
The quartet delves into the fusion of Mediterranean culture in all its breadth, recovering melodies and traditional repertoire from different cultures.
Co-organised by the IEMed and Ateneu Barcelonès within the framework of the Festival “Juliol a la fresca”, the concert will be followed by the representation of “The Flight of Icarus” with La Fura dels Baus.
