In February 2022, the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) joined forces with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Regional Program Political Dialogue South MED to organize a gathering in Brussels of former Ambassadors of EU member states posted in Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia, with the objective to discuss the coherence of EU Foreign policy in the region in the light of new developments.

Eager to contribute to ongoing and pressing debates, the IEMed and the KAS Regional Program South MED organise a second edition focusing now on the Eastern Mediterranean.

The debate on how the EU Foreign Policy is bound to become more geopolitical and coherent has gained renewed traction in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The 2023 edition of this event aims to provide a hands-on contribution to this debate, with a focus on Eastern Mediterranean countries, gathering former Ambassadors of EU member states to the region.
