The fractures between the shores of the Mediterranean that today divide the territory are reflections of other distant wars that the European Union has not taken into account when forging its trajectory: thus, a Europe has been born separated from its Mediterranean cradle, whose shores, north and south, only have their discontent in common. Despite the numerous plans and political programs drawn up in recent decades to address the situation, the results, in general, have been quite limited. Even so, nothing authorizes us to let pass in silence the aggressions that our sea continues to suffer, whose best traditions have opposed in vain threats such as environmental deterioration, wild initiatives, poorly controlled demographic movements or corruption. Putting into practice an alternative inter-Mediterranean culture does not seem easy, but it would be desirable for today’s Europe to be less selfish and Eurocentric than that of the past and more open to citizens.
