Debate at the IEMed on the strategy of Europe in the Mediterranean to present the IEMed 2018 yearbook

This Thursday afternoon, the IEMed Mediterranean Yearbook 2018 is presented in Barcelona with a debate on the EU strategy in the Mediterranean, the competition with other world powers in the region, the evolution of regional conflicts such as Syria, and the effects of technological innovation in the Mediterranean economies.

The following will participate in the debate:

Senén Florensa, president of the IEMed Delegate Commission

Giorgia Giovannetti, Vice President of International Relations at the University of Florence

Kristina Kausch, Senior Resident Fellow, German Marshall Fund, Brussels

With the contribution of 64 international experts, the new edition of the yearbook offers articles to understand the most relevant facts and trends in the European Mediterranean countries, the Balkans, the Maghreb and the Middle East. It also offers statistical data, socioeconomic indicators, graphs, timelines, and maps.

The speakers of the debate participate the following morning, Friday, September 28, in the advisory council of the 2019 edition of the yearbook, in which they will debate and fix the key issues of the region. Besides Giovannetti, Kausch and Florensa, Laura Feliu (UAB); Erwan Lannon (Ghent University); Aurelia Mañé (UB); Claire Spencer (Chatham House, London); Jordi Vaquer (Co-director, Open Society Initiative for Europe), Pere Vilanova (UB) and Eduard Soler Lecha (CIDOB), will participate, among others.
