The IEMed to co-develop an innovative training programme addressed to young people

3 December 2025 | Corporate news

The IEMed has joined MedYCI – Mediterranean Youth for Creative Impact, a new Interreg NEXT MED project that tackles educational disparities, the digital gap and high youth unemployment in the Mediterranean. In a context where many young people – especially young women – face informal employment and low civic engagement, MedYCI brings together partners from France, Spain, Türkiye, Tunisia and Egypt to co-develop an innovative training programme with youth civil society organisations (CSOs).

MedYCI aims to strengthen the digital, creative and analytical skills that are crucial for emerging job markets and meaningful participation in public life. By combining international exchanges, cross-border youth-led actions and artistic practice, the project promotes new educational approaches, lifelong learning and regional solidarity. It will train around 200 young people aged 18–30 through a joint training scheme and activate MedYCI Studios in each partner country as youth-managed hubs for learning by doing, content creation and ongoing innovation.

Within MedYCI, the IEMed serves as the project’s pedagogical engine and quality anchor, leading WP3 – MedYCI joint schemes training. In close cooperation with all partners, the IEMed will co-design a multilingual and participatory training framework, mentor around 30 trainers and artist-facilitators, and support blended training activities for at least 200 young people in the five participating countries. WP3 will be key in consolidating the MedYCI Studios as local hubs for artistic experimentation, civic engagement and collaborative learning.

Participation in MedYCI is part of the IEMed’s longstanding commitment to Euro-Mediterranean cooperation, fully aligned with the Interreg NEXT MED programme’s objective to foster inclusive, sustainable and cohesive development across Mediterranean societies.

MedYCI is implemented by partners from 5 Euro-Mediterranean countries: Les Têtes de l’Art -France-, IEMed, Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF), Pi Youth Association (PIYA) and CILG- VNG international.
