MedYCI launches a call for applications for Mediterranean young people in audiovisual field
18 March 2026 | Corporate news
The Mediterranean Youth for Creative Impact (MED-Y.C.I) project has launched a call to select 200 young people aged 18 to 30 from the Euro-Mediterranean region who wish to develop creative, digital and civic skills. The initiative, funded by the EU under the Interreg NEXT MED programme and running for 30 months, is led by Les Têtes de l’Art (France) and implemented in partnership with the Anna Lindh Foundation, the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), the Centre International de Développement pour la Gouvernance Locale (CILG), and the PI Youth Association. The project aims to strengthen youth employability and encourage active civic participation by providing innovative training programmes, creative labs and youth-led initiatives.

The call is open to young people living in eligible regions of France, Spain, Turkey, Tunisia and Egypt, with 40 participants selected per country. Selected participants will join a learning programme that combines audiovisual storytelling, digital creativity and critical thinking, through workshops, exchanges and experimentation within the MED-Y.C.I Studios. The programme will start with a co-design phase to identify key Mediterranean challenges (April–May 2026), followed by national training cycles beginning in summer 2026. No previous experience in audiovisual production or technology is required, as the selection will primarily value motivation, curiosity and willingness to learn and collaborate.
Participation in the programme is fully free of charge, with the project covering training activities, access to the creative studios, mentorship from experts and artists, and—when applicable—mobility-related costs. Beyond gaining digital and creative skills, participants will become part of a Mediterranean youth network, develop impactful audiovisual content and engage in civic initiatives. Interested candidates can apply through the online form by submitting a short video (recommended), written response, audio message or other creative format.
The MedYCI – Mediterranean Youth for Creative Impact
MedYCI, an Interreg NEXT MED project, aims to strengthen the digital, creative and analytical skills that are crucial for emerging job markets and meaningful participation in public life. By combining international exchanges, cross-border youth-led actions and artistic practice, the project promotes new educational approaches, lifelong learning and regional solidarity. It will train around 200 young people aged 18–30 through a joint training scheme and activate MedYCI Studios in each partner country as youth-managed hubs for learning by doing, content creation and ongoing innovation.
Within MedYCI, the IEMed serves as the project’s pedagogical engine and quality anchor, leading WP3 – MedYCI joint schemes training. In close cooperation with all partners, the IEMed will co-design a multilingual and participatory training framework, mentor around 30 trainers and artist-facilitators, and support blended training activities for at least 200 young people in the five participating countries. WP3 will be key in consolidating the MedYCI Studios as local hubs for artistic experimentation, civic engagement and collaborative learning.
Participation in MedYCI is part of the IEMed’s longstanding commitment to Euro-Mediterranean cooperation, fully aligned with the Interreg NEXT MED programme’s objective to foster inclusive, sustainable and cohesive development across Mediterranean societies.
MedYCI is implemented by partners from 5 Euro-Mediterranean countries: Les Têtes de l’Art -France-, IEMed, Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF), Pi Youth Association (PIYA) and CILG- VNG international.
