EuroMeSCo advances one position over the previous year and ranks as the eighth best think tank network in the world, according to the 2017 Global Go-To Think Tank Index Report, a global benchmark prepared annually by the Lauder Institute of the University of Pennsylvania.

Founded in 1996, the EuroMeSCo network currently has 106 research institutes specializing in politics and security based in 32 countries that are members of the Union for the Mediterranean. Since 2010 it has experienced a renewed impetus in its work as an observatory and research center on the Mediterranean region with an increased number of activities, seminars, conferences, meetings as well as the production of publications. The IEMed serves as the academic secretariat of EuroMeSCo, which since 2015 has received EU funding.

One of the latest developments of EuroMeSCo is the launch this January of its new website, with a more dynamic format and better and quicker access to both the network’s agenda, its experts and especially its analysis and publications on Euro-Mediterranean policies, good governance, migration, violent extremism, trade, energy and sustainability, among others.

The IEMed in the classification

The European Institute of the Mediterranean also appears in the rankings of the 2017 Global Go-To Think Tank Index Report. Specifically, the IEMed is present in the section on best use of social networks, best think tanks in Western Europe and best institutional collaboration between two or more think tanks.
