Originated from Sufi movements that took place in the Middle East in the 11th and 12th centuries, the Bektashi Order founds in Albania his Torch Land. Strictly affected by the history of the country, after a period of great political importance during the disintegration of Ottoman Empire, the Order was completely banned by the Communist Regime, when Albania became the only atheist state in the world. Anyway, thanks to the secret practice and the Albania Bektashi Community in diaspora, the religion continued to be alive and spread among people, until when the Constitution of 1988 guarantees the freedom of belief and Bektashi regains his place in Albanian society. The Eagle’s Country has recovered its long tradition of tolerance, with Bektashi believers, Sunnis Muslims and Christians praying all together in the Tomorri Mountain, the sanctuary of divine Gods.
