The report, titled “Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Expectations: Civil Society Conclusions and Ministerial Commitments”, identifies the progress, obstacles and agreements reached in Cairo in November 2017 during the fourth Euro-Mediterranean ministerial conference. It analyses issues related to equal rights between men and women, the participation of women in political and economic life, the fight against discrimination and violence against women and girls, and the need to build new imaginaries regarding gender.

Together with the first report prepared by the Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation, these documents represent a much valuable monitoring tool proposed by the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), operating at both national and State levels. As such, they enable the assessment of the impact of policies regarding the States’ commitments to the Paris Ministerial Declaration on the ground, and at the same time they strengthen the capacities of the different equality actors at the local level by involving them in a collective process of evaluation and identification of the obstacles to equality, which then leads to the implementation of field projects to counter these obstacles.

The report is presented as part of the event entitled “Temps des femmes: Solidarité internationale pour l’autonomisation économiques des femmes “, which brings together many Mediterranean associations working on the rights of migrant women, and is held on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Forum Femmes Méditerranée.
