Multi-Level Engagement in the Mediterranean

Christian Danielsson, Director-General of Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG-NEAR) of the European Commission, explains his vision on the European Commission’s Mediterranean agenda as well as the challenges and opportunities facing the region at a round table titled “Multi-Level Engagement In The Mediterranean” with the participation of institutional representatives and research organizations and centers working on this area. This event follows the Chatham House rules.
Christian Danielsson is a Swedish diplomat who has worked at the European Commission since 1995, when he joined as a member of Commissioner Anita Gradin’s cabinet and director of The European Enlargement Department. From 2008 to 2010, Danielsson was a permanent representative for Sweden at the European Union before becoming Deputy Secretary General of the European Commission in 2011. In 2013 he became Director General of Enlargement and since 2015 he has been Director-General of Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations (NEAR). Prior to joining the Commission, he worked for the Swedish diplomatic service.
