Book Launch: “El islamismo egipcio. Claves de un fracaso”
8 July 2022. From 12:00 | Presentation | Spanish | IEMedThe European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) organises and hosts the presentation of the new book by Sergio Carranza Forster: El islamismo egipcio. Claves de un fracaso. In it, the author explores questions such as What is Islamism? Who are its promoters? What is its political, economic and social program? What limitations does its application have in the contemporary world? What chance is there that this political ideology will continue to spread?
Sergio Carranza, the author of the book, is joined by Lurdes Vidal, Director of the Arab and Islamic world area of the IEMed, in this launching event. The speakers discuss some of the issues that the book analyses, such as the tension that exists between religion and politics, the diversity of Islamist trends and the reforms that they promote and apply, the limitations inherent to their ideology, and the debate on the present and the future of Islam.
The event is held on July 8 in the Sala del Consell of the IEMed (Girona, 20 Barcelona) at 12 pm. Free access with limited capacity, prior registration is required.
