Elisabetta Bartuli

Italian specialist in Arabic contemporary literature, literary translation from Arabic and transcultural dialogue. Professor at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice and at the Higher School of Linguistic Mediators in Vicenza. Member of the Scientific Committee of the European Master on Inter-Mediterranean Cultural Mediation (MIM) and of the Mediterranean study network MeRiFor, Elisabetta Bartuli is also a translator and consultant in several Italian publishing houses, where she contributes to the selection of authors in the Arabic language for the Italian market. She assists in the organisation of several literary and cultural Euro-Mediterranean events in Italy and abroad. She is also a literary critic and publishes both scientific articles and reviews of Arabic literature in different Italian national newspapers.

 
Najwa Barakat 

Lebanese resident in Paris. She has studied theatre and cinema in Beirut. Najwa Barkat writes scripts for radio, television and cinema and has directed several films and documentaries. She has published six novels, including The Bus of Good People, which received the Award for the Best Literary Production of the Lebanese Cultural Forum in Paris. In the last few years she has directed several creative literature workshops for young people and journalists.

 

Jamila Hassoune 

Moroccan writer. In the last ten years, Jamila Hassoune has built a cultural bridge between the Moroccan urban centres and the rural villages of the Atlas, taking books and creating contacts between young artists, intellectuals and civic organisations. She has managed several projects, including “Hiwar” (Dialogue) and the “Book Caravan” for the creation of mobile cultural facilities in the rural areas of southern Morocco. Jamila Hassoune has published several articles on the role of knowledge in the democratisation processes and on intercultural dialogue.

 

Gemma Lienas

Gemma Lienas (Barcelona, 1951) is a writer and contributes to different media. She has written books for adults: Atrapada al mirall, Anoche soñé contigo, El final del joc (Les Lletres Catalanes Ramon Llull Award 2003), Rebels, ni putes ni submises, Pornografia i vestits de núvia and Quiero ser puta, against the legalisation of prostitution. For the young: Bitllet d’anada i tornada (L’Odissea Award 1998), El diari lila de la Carlota (Unesco Award for Tolerance 2003), El diari vermell de la Carlota, El diari blau de la Carlota, Cul de sac, Dos cavalls (Ramon Muntaner Award 1987) and Així és la vida, Carlota (IBBY Honourable Mention 1990).
