Promotes a dynamic concept of dialogue between cultures and civilizations through multilateral co-operation between civil society partners in education, culture, science and communication.
Strengthens intellectual co-operation and capacity-building in multidisciplinary fields such as human rights, democratic citizenship, sustainable development, learning, knowledge and information society, gender and youth.
Contributes to shaping the Euro-Mediterranean space as an area of co-operation, exchange, mobility, mutual understanding and peace.
Objectives and Tasks
• bringing people and organisations together through practical experiences of co-operation across borders
• spreading knowledge and cultural awareness about the area, its peoples, history and civilizations
• promoting a continuous cultural debate through multi-media instruments as well as cooperation with journalists, writers, artists and filmmakers throughout the region
• establishing and maintaining a close and regular dialogue between cultural circles otherwise often kept outside the main diplomatic and cultural exchanges
• organising workshops aimed at enhancing skills of self-expression
• encouraging network partners to organise and participate in music or theatre festivals, exhibitions, seminars and debates
• inviting governments to encourage youth cultural tourism
• identifying and furthering common cultural aspects among the people of the partner countries by encouraging initiatives aimed at eradicating xenophobia and racism
• enhancing the visibility of the Barcelona process as an essential instrument for promoting mutual understanding and respect
• establishing a Euromed label as recognition for all projects in which the Foundation plays a role and the values it promotes are manifested.
