Structure

Board of Governors

The Foundation has a Board of Governors, its main executive body.

The Board of Governors is formed by representatives of the member states of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership and includes, for the first period of three years, the members of the Euromed Committee. After the initial period of three years the number of members of the Board of Governors and the length of the mandate can be revised.

The main functions of the Board of Governors are to establish the general work lines of the Foundation and its operational priorities, to adopt the triennial programme, the activity plan and the annual budget. It also approves the annual financial report, establishes procedure regulations and the control and auditing criteria of the projects.

Advisory commitee

The Advisory Committee is formed by 12 members (6 from EU countries and 6 from Mediterranean countries that form part of the Partnership), chosen according to their trajectory in the field of intercultural dialogue and their governmental independence or private financial interests. The members of the Advisory Committee are selected by the Management Board, based on the proposals of the member states of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, seeking to guarantee a balanced representation of the public and private sectors and sexual equality.

The Advisory Committee has consultative functions; it is consulted by the Executive Director on the preparation of the triennial programme, the budget proposal and on other issues related with the quality of the Foundation's work.

Executive Director

The Executive Director is the legal representative of the Foundation and is elected by the Management Board from the candidates proposed by the European Commission. The mandate is for three years, which can be extended for a further three years.

The Executive Director represents the Foundation in external relations and maintains permanent contact with the national networks. The Executive Director is responsible for establishing a proposal for the triennial programme, the activity plan and annual budget and, after their approval, for ensuring their implementation. Other functions of the Executive Director include managing the personnel of the Foundation, submitting the annual financial report and guaranteeing the openness of the Foundation's procedures.

The current Executive Director: Dr. Traugott Schoefthaler
