The IEMed programmes and promotes exhibitions and cultural activities on Mediterranean themes. It provides support to initiatives that have this aim in the field of artistic and literary creation.

Historical exhibitions. Destined to shed more light on today's Mediterranean . The IEMed also has an exhibition policy on the civilisations that have contributed to the configuration of Catalonia : the Roman Empire , Islam and the Jewish world

Contemporary art exhibitions. Picasso, Miró, Dalí and Tàpies are some of the contemporary Catalan creators that the IEMed has featured in exhibitions that have travelled to several cities of the Mediterranean . It has also presented contemporary creation from other Mediterranean countries and artists .

Cultural weeks. In order to improve understanding of other Mediterranean societies, the IEMed organises cultural weeks that combine knowledge of their past and present with examples of their artistic creativity.

Support to cultural diversity. As part of its activities, the IEMed endeavours to promote the cultural diversity of Mediterranean countries as a way of giving visibility and support to all cultural expression.

Cultural cooperation and exchange. The IEMed promotes initiatives of cultural cooperation and exchange between artists and creators from the Mediterranean .
