The achievement of a shared Mediterranean space involves the participation of civil society and the existence of networks promoting dialogue, cooperation and reflection. The IEMed encourages this participation from diverse Mediterranean networks, in collaboration with institutions from the social, economic and cultural world.

Euro-Mediterranean Civil Forum. In 1995, the IEMed organised in Barcelona the first Euro-Mediterranean Civil Forum. Since then, it has actively participated in the civil dimension of the Partnership.

Anna Lindh Foundation for Dialogue between Cultures in the Mediterranean. The IEMed is the head of the Anna Lindh Foundation in Spain. It coordinates the action of the network of the Spanish institutions involved in the dialogue between cultures in the Mediterranean.

Observatory of Women in the Western Mediterranean. It promotes a network of associations with the objective of monitoring and demanding the fulfilment of the fundamental rights of women.

North Africa Business and Development Forum. In collaboration with the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, the IEMed annually organises this Forum, which brings together business people, politicians and experts from the Maghreb and Europe.

Mediterranean networks. The IEMed participates in multiple networks that work in the field of strategic reflection (Euromesco, Strademed), cultural action (Alecso), cultural heritage (Euromed Heritage) or human rights (Universitat Rovira i Virgili Observatory).

Euro-region. In collaboration with the Government of Catalonia, the IEMed contributes to the articulation of the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euro-region and to the cooperation between this and the countries of the Maghreb.
