23/04/2008 The oud virtuoso Anouar Brahem will give a free concert on Tuesday the 29th of April, at 8.30 pm, in the Church of Sant Felip Neri in Barcelona. The Tunisian musician will give the first concert in the “Music of the Mediterranean” series, which the IEMed is running this year to bring religious and traditional music from the region to the people of Barcelona as part of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008.

More Than One Hundred and Fifty People Take Part in the Forum on Migration and Development in Morocco 17/04/2008 On the 14th and 15th of April, the minister in charge of Moroccan expatriate affairs, Mohamed Ameur, and the Minister of Employment of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, Mar Serna, took part in this Forum, which was held in the IEMed and was attended by more than 150 participants. The aim of the event was to promote investment and development in the region of Oriental, the place of origin of a large number of Moroccan immigrants living in Catalonia.

IEMed Inaugurates Forum on "Migration and Development. Morocco: the Eastern Region" 14/04/2008 The minister in charge of Moroccan expatriate affairs, Mohamed Ameur, opened the work sessions of this forum, which aims to promote investment in the region of Oriental, the place of origin of the majority of Moroccan immigrants living in Catalonia. Catalan President Montilla Inaugurates IEMed’s Ramón Llull Exhibition in Morocco 09/04/2008 As part of his official visit to Morocco, the president of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, José Montilla, has travelled to Rabat to inaugurate the “Raimundus, Christianus Arabicus. Ramón Llull and the Meeting of Two Cultures” exhibition. The event was also attended by the Moroccan Minister of Culture, the director general of the IEMed and the writer Najat El Hachmi.

IEMed Collaborates with Institut d'Estudis Catalans to Organise Conference on the Power of King James I 01/04/2008 This year, the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (Institute for Catalan Studies) , in collaboration with the IEMed, has organised a number of conferences on King James I of Aragon (1208-1276) as part of a series of events taking place throughout 2008 to commemorate the eighth centenary of his birth. The first conference will take place in Barcelona between the 31st of March and the 4th of April and will examine royal power, government institutions and international policy.

Paul Balta Takes Part in Debate on “Food in the Mediterranean: Cultural Dialogue Around the Table” 27/03/2008 Paul Balta, a prestigious journalist and expert on the Arab and Mediterranean world, took part in this debate, which was hosted by the IEMed to coincide with the publication of his book Comer y beber en el Mediterráneo (“Eating and Drinking in the Mediterranean”, Ediciones de Oriente y del Mediterráneo). The debate was also attended by journalist and literary critic Claudine Rulleau, the director of the author’s publishing house, Inmaculada Jiménez, and the director general of the IEMed.

IEMed to Host Forum on Migration and Development Focusing on Eastern Morocco 18/03/2008 The Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans Abroad, the IEMed and the Ibn Batuta Foundation have presented the Economic Forum on “Migration and Development in Regions of Origin. Morocco:
the Eastern Region”. The aim of the Forum, which will be held on the 14th and 15th of April in the IEMed, is to promote the development of the region, which is the place of origin of a large number of Moroccan immigrants who have settled in Catalonia.
