afkar/ideas examines the prospects of Turkey’s integration in the EU

The modernisation of Turkey, the political role of religion and Islam, the role of the security forces, the country’s involvement in the Euromediterranean partnership and above all the relations between Turkey and the EU in the integration process are some of the themes analysed in the latest issue of the magazine afkar/ideas. The magazine also includes an interview with the Turkish Minister for Religious Affairs, Mehmet Aydin.

The magazine, which is published quarterly in both Spanish and French by the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) and the Spanish Foreign Office, also looks at the state of Spanish relations with the Maghreb following the recent royal visit to Algeria and the last High Level Meeting between Spain and Morocco, and includes analytical articles on the role of the US in the Near East or the lessons that can be learnt from the development of the Barcelona Process on the involvement of the USA in Europe and the Mediterranean.
