Rethinking Migration Policies includes all
the contributions of the HMI World Congress
The
EIMed has published the book "Rethinking Migration Policies.
Ideas, proposals and experiences from the World Congress Human
Movements
and Immigration" as a result of the HMI Congress. This English
version has the support of the United Nations Population Fund
(UNFPA). (See contents of the book)
With the will of the HMI Congress to suggest ideas for the management
of the migration, a book has been elaborated with the aim to spread,
propose and activate. It includes the great amount and variety of participation
and the diversity of formats of the speeches given during the Congress.
It is not the publication of the Congress’ acts with academic vocation
or simply analytical vocation, but a book that tries to contribute in
the continuation of the debate that the HMI Congress represented: to
divulge a positive image of migration, to tackle the analysis of the
complexity in the management of migration and to make proposals to improve
this management.
The book presents its contents in two axes. On the one hand, the representatives
papers of the implied institutions and high level experts in the international
migrations scope, that has allowed to gather the most excellent and paradigmatic
ideas of the speakers. On the other hand, the contribution of the organizer
equipment of HMI Congress and which has published, updated and structured
the book contents according the aspects that the migrations analysis
carries. Along those lines, the content of the publication is divided
in three great scopes: a) the challenges that lack to assume in migrations
matter and give title to different chapters, b) the performance proposals,
come from the governments or the civil society actors, and c) the experiences
presented in HMI Congress.
Finally, the conclusions of the book want to be a reflection of those
of the Congress, tackling the main subjects and problems identified during
the congress, as well as the measures and institutions proposed to face
them. It also summarizes the conclusions and proposals established by
the Contents Committee (made up by the International Committee and the
Scientific Advisory Committee) in the meetings held before, during and
after the Congress.
