INTRODUCTION
Mediterranean Population Forum
The Forum is divided into four sessions: three thematic (of analysis and debate) and a final one of conclusions and recommendations.
The first session deals with the main demographic transition trends and the predictable scenarios in the mid-term.
The second analyses the changes in the composition of the population, age structures and dependency ratios, with emphasis on critical groups for change: young people and women.
The third session deals with population mobility and the space where the changes take place: the cities; here, issues related to accelerated urban growth, environmental and social sustainability as well as international migrations are analysed.
The forth and final session is a synthesis of the findings of the previous sessions and the resulting guidelines for action.
